Assistants spend a lot of time preparing to become Superintendents, because in addition to agronomic skills, there are business, political, management and leadership skills that help you thrive at a new club. Assistants attending this session will explore ways to be ready to "hit the ground running" and avoid some classic rookie mistakes in preparing budget and operation plans in a way that get them where they need to be as well as enhancing management and leadership skills necessary to enjoy a life-long career in the golf industry. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of:
• How to decipher and acquire the right balance of both leadership and management skills necessary to succeed
• Practical and effective approaches to address common concerns from golfers, members, and employees
• Important management and leadership qualities to establish a positive employee morale and support teamwork
• Communication and preparation methods for establishing competencies in all areas of the new role as a Superintendent
