Advanced Strategies for Resistance Management

Thursday, February 4
2:00 pm – 2:15 pm

Pesticide resistance poses a serious threat to our ability to manage important pests. New modes of action are increasingly difficult to discover and develop, and new chemistries tend to carry a high risk for resistance. This session will provide superintendents with an understanding of resistance with clear strategies to prevent or delay its development. We will focus on the concept of resistance risk – both for pests and control products. Emphasis will be on the underlying strategy for resistance management and not on the utilization of specific products. Attendees will:

• Understand how and why pesticide resistance develops

• Prioritize resistance management efforts to highest risk situations

• Develop and implement an effective resistance management

• Acquire skills directly applicable to development of fungicide, herbicide, and insecticide programs
