Jason Zimmerman, CGCS, has been working in the golf course industry for the past 27 years, beginning at the age of 14. He was born and raised outside of Detroit, Mich., and graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in turfgrass management in 1998. His early work experiences include interning at Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head Island, S.C., and work as an assistant superintendent at a private course in southern Michigan.
Zimmerman moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1999 where he spent the next seven years at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club as superintendent of the Copperhead course, the site of an annual PGA event. The last five years at the property, his responsibilities expanded to managing 36 holes. In 2004, he achieved his GCSAA certification status.
Since 2006, he has held the position of director of greens and grounds at Pelican’s Nest Golf Club in Bonita Springs,Fla. Pelican’s Nest is a 36-hole private facility designed by Tom Fazio in 1985.
When away from the course, Zimmerman enjoys spending time with his 10 year old son Nolan, acoustic guitar, sports and the ocean.
